Laser Face & Leg Vein / Rosacea Removal
LaserWise can provide a long term solution to facial and body problems such as red flushing (Rosacea), thread veins, blood spots and leg veins in just a few quick and easy treatments.
How does the treatment work?
Here at LaserWise Skin & Beauty Clinic in Cardiff, we use different lasers for different vascular lesions to achieve brilliant results. For superficial red veins we use an IPL and for deeper vessels, usually in the legs, we use an Nd: YAG laser.
Light energy is applied to the skin where it is readily absorbed by blood vessels, heating them to a point where they are destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels quickly clear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
How is the treatment carried out?
The light applicator is placed on the skin and a short pulse of light or laser light is released. The applicator is moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated. During treatment, protective eyewear will be provided.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is suitable for most people. Best results are obtained for those with fair skin as there are less chances of side effects.
How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable feeling like an elastic band has been flicked on the skin. Deeper vessels feel more uncomfortable and described as a very quick, hot pin prick, as the laser travels deeper into the skin to remove the vein. A cooling device is used to make the treatment comfortable or numbing cream can also be used if needed.
Are there any side effects?
After treatment the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or Decolletage can be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours. Though very rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. Leg veins respond like a cat scratch and become red and raised. This is a normal reaction takes a few weeks to heal fully.
How long does each treatment take?
Treatments typically take from 15 to 60 minutes, depending on the type and size of lesion.
Which types of veins can be treated?
Most red skin lesions, including facial thread veins, rosacea, spider naevi, port wine stains, and leg veins can be treated very successfully. We do not treat varicose veins, as these require medical attention.
How many treatments are necessary?
Typically 3 to 5 treatments are needed for optimum results, though small lesions may clear in just a single session. Repeat treatments are spaced every 4 to 6 weeks for the face and body and 8 to 10 weeks for the legs as healing time is longer.
How much will it cost?
Prices vary depending on the area to be treated. You can pay as you go or you can purchase a course of 6 treatments and receive 20% discount off the total amount. To view our full price list click here.
